Description

You know the Ville Close and its ramparts, Concarneau’s famous landmark. But have you ever seen it from the sea? Embark at the fishing port, close to the tourism office, for a guided tour aboard the Vedettes de l’Odet.

The cruise begins with a visit to Concarneau’s port facilities. Shipyards and dry docks for building and repairing ships, fishmongers and seafood processors, and, of course, the fish auction, where fishes from deep-sea vessels, trawlers, bolinch boats and coastal vessels are sold early in the morning. Concarneau’s port activity remains important, even if the heyday of fishing is over.

The cruise continues with a visit to the marina. Every two years, a nautical event takes place here: the Transat Concarneau-Saint Barthélémy. This ocean race, led by some of the world’s most famous skippers, crosses the Atlantic Ocean to reach the island of St Barth in the West Indies. To give you the best point of view of Concarneau Bay, the boat sets sail for a breath of iodized air. A 180° panorama of the ocean opens up before you. To the west, the pointe of Beg Meil. To the east, the pointe de Trevignon.

You’ll follow the coastline past the cove of Kersaux, home to a few yachtsmen, and the Pointe du Cabellou, before returning along the ledge, where the Chapel of the Cross stands alongside old mansions and modern buildings. Accompanied by our guide, the Commented Cruise in Concarneau Bay will be the highlight of your vacation for the whole family !
